Meet Glenn H. Shepard, M.D.

Born and raised in Newport News and graduated in the Warwick High School Class of '55.
Undergraduate and Med School, UVA
Internship and Surgical Residency Vanderbilt University.
Plastic Surgery Residency, Duke.

Certified, America Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery Surgeon, US Army Hospital of Ft. Gordon, Georgia, and the Second Surgical Hospital in An Khe, Viet Nam.

Practiced Plastic Surgery 30 years in Newport News, in solo practice for most of those years before joining the Plastic Surgery Center of Hampton Roads in 1995.

Directed, Peninsula Craniofacial Anomalies Clinic, where with numerous generous volunteer Dentists and dental specialists, Speech Pathologists, Audiologists, ENT Doctors, and Anesthesiologists, and with the support of Riverside Hospital and the Newport News, Hampton, and Williamsburg Schools special needs programs, care was provided to 500 children with cleft lip and palate and other deformities of the face and hands.

Directed the Riverside Hospital Laboratory for Microvascular Research for 20 years with basic research on wound healing, cleft palates, and fingernail growth and development.

Past President, The Va. Society of Plastic Surgery, Riverside Dept. of Surgery, and the Mary Immaculate Hospital Dept. of Surgery.

Served on the Editorial staffs of The Virginia Medical Monthly, The Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and the Journal of Surgery, Gynecology, and Obstetrics.

May, 2010 was a volunteer surgeon with the Notre Dame Hospital Group in Haiti

Currently, a writer with the recent publication of fiction novel, Not For Profit (available through Amazon Books), and pending release of Relief Aid, Haiti, and writing the Biography of the artist, Barclay Sheaks (to be published in 2014).

Dr. Shepard joined Oyster Point Oral and Facial Surgery in August 2013, and he continues to provide cosmetic surgery services to the community, as he has done for the past 30 years.


Key Staff


Lucy Adkins has been a Registered nurse for more than 30 years, focusing on Plastic Surgery for the past 20 years, since she came to the Peninsula. She has worked in the operating room in local hospitals and private physician practices, the recovery room, and provided patient care in the office setting. She is currently Surgical Nurse/Cosmetic Counselor for Oyster Point Oral and Facial Surgery, as well as the Manager of NUMA Spa. She is a Nurse Injector specializing in Botox and Juvederm injections. Lucy is looking forward to continuing to provide personal attention and support for patients in order to help them achieve their goals.


Juli Lewis is a Newport News native. She graduated from Riverside School of Surgical Technology in 1991. The past 20 years she has specialized in plastic surgery at area hospitals and in physician’s private practices. She graduated from American Spirit Institute in 2004 becoming a Licensed Master Aesthetician. She is currently providing aesthetic skincare, Reaction treatments, and laser services to patients at NUMA Spa.  She also continues as a Surgical Technologist and assists Dr. Glenn H. Shepard, both in the operating room and in cosmetic consultations.

Darlene Jennings, L.M.A.

Darlene is a Licensed Master Aesthetician with more than 30 years of experience in aesthetic skin care. She has trained in a variety of settings in New York, Washington D.C., Florida and Virginia. Darlene set up an aesthetic skin care spa at Oral Point Oral and Facial Surgery in August 2012, and currently provides services at NUMA SPA. She specializes in chemical peels, microdermabrasion, Reaction skin tightening and laser services. Darlene maintains her commitment to staying current on all aspects of aesthetic skin care and products.
